best results are obtained using a combination of laboratory analysis
(cuvette tests) and process measurement technology (online sensors) at

The right process measurement technology for N and P degradation

Author: Uwe Karg. In the wake of advanced wastewater treatment, new treatment methods emerged for the parameters nitrogen and phosphorus. Additionally two examples are added: 1. A 20.000 IE plant is presented after optimization with process instruments and fuzzy-control. 20 % less nitrogen in the outlet, 30 % less energy costs, demonstrated by concrete figures including 95.000 Euro for the investment. 2. Ideal control system for the phosphate elimination based on a chart showing a) real inlet ortho-phosphate concentrations of a plant, b) the added flocculants, c) ortho-phosphate concentration after the addition of flocculants and finally d) the total phosphorus concentration in the outlet.
