Telemetry for the highest level of plant reliability | |

Reliability is a main goal for control processes which have to reduce operating costs or ensure compliance with limit values. WWTP in Radolfzell (40.000 PE) at the Bodensee (Lake Constance) fullfil both requirements. Process measuring instruments supply the control system continuously with readings and signal their operational readiness by means of telemetry. The right process measurement technology for N and P degradation | |
| Author: Uwe Karg. In the wake of advanced wastewater treatment, new treatment methods emerged for the parameters nitrogen and phosphorus. Additionally two examples are added: 1. A 20.000 IE plant is presented after optimization with process instruments and fuzzy-control. 20 % less nitrogen in the outlet, 30 % less energy costs, demonstrated by concrete figures including 95.000 Euro for the investment. 2. Ideal control system for the phosphate elimination based on a chart showing a) real inlet ortho-phosphate concentrations of a plant, b) the added flocculants, c) ortho-phosphate concentration after the addition of flocculants and finally d) the total phosphorus concentration in the outlet.
